Have you ever caught a muskie with someone else's lure stuck in its mouth? Last year, I caught 2. One had a bass spinnerbait in the corner of its mouth, the other had a small twister grub in it. Many years ago, I landed one that had a rapala stuck in the rear dorsal fin.
Not a Muskie but I caught a shephead off a pier when I was a kid that had a hook line sinker with a rod on the end of it, kid wasn’t paying attention about an hour earlier and the fish snuck off with it. Lucky I caught it because it was his dads rod and his dad was known to be on the abusive side
Never caught a Muskie with the complete bait in it's mouth but twice I have caught fish with large treble hooks still deep in their mouth/throat. It looked like the hooks were cut off at the split ring to release the fish not on the impaled hook. Fish were not large enough to straighten out the split rings. I cut/removed the hooks off properly before the release
